Where a technician manually enters identification codes into a printing system, character transposition, reference misreading, and version mismatch between the printed set and the current revision of the schematic are persistent risk factors. For installations subject to periodic third-party inspection, including those governed by machinery directive compliance requirements, railway interoperability regulations, or offshore safety cases, the long-term legibility of wire identification markings is not an operational preference, but a documented compliance requirement.
